Hamilton is an umbrella company consisting of a security company, 3 colleges, a cricket club and an events/exhibitions company. As an in-house designer, my duties were creation and management of brands, web, print, email design and the configuration and management of the college’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
The old logo did not completely convey the message and ethos of the organisation. It did not even had the full name of the college in it, which is "AA Hamilton College London". Whenever the logo was used, the full name of the college had to be added separately to the logo, which resulted in an inconsistent image. Throughout all mediums of communications (i.e. website, stationery and marketing material etc.) had the same inconsistency.
The college also wanted a Virtual Learning Environment for the students to interact with teachers and to provide them with an online learning resource.
The new idea for the logo was to use the initials “AA”, using the letters to create a recognisable symbol. The new identity is modern and minimal with a subtle use of colour. The new brand guidelines influenced all mediums resulting in a cohesive and consistent brand image.
Alongside the new modern responsive website, I implemented Moodle as a VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) to facilitate distance learning for students.
This re-imagining of the brand is functional and modern. Gold is used on the main symbol to communicate prestige while the use of Helvetica gives a modern neutral look. Gentium Basic is used on the body copy of the website and documents to enhance legibility.
Every page on the website has a unique layout. The website is responsive and adapts to any screen size perfectly.
